Are you aware that a staggering $7.4 billion in life insurance benefits remain unclaimed, failing to reach their rightful beneficiaries? These unclaimed benefits are held by individual states as unclaimed property, often because they fall into what we refer to as LIMBO.

LIMBO (Blockchain) (4)2

We invite you to view our demonstration to observe the functionality in action!

Minting Insurance Policies with the infineo Policy Ledger

1.0 What information is stored on Provenance blockchain?

→   Only the policy “hash” record is stored on the blockchain.  The hash is generated from three (3) data elements derived from each policy: policy number, carrier, issue date. Note that the hash is a complex mathematical operation on the original data that transforms them into an encrypted output. Only this encrypted “fingerprint” is actually stored on the public ledger. No personal data is posted in readable form.

2.0 What policy information (PII) is stored on your web2 / off-chain servers?
→ Certain elements of life insurance policies, and contact information for the owner, life insured, beneficiaries and other interested parties are stored within infineo’s internal database (and NOT on the blockchain). Not all of this information is required, but the Policy Ledger experience will generally be better with more information.
3.0 Where are your servers located and how are they secured?
→ All infineo cloud services and servers are hosted in the continental USA, and data is never stored outside of the US. Cloud service providers maintain strict compliance with security and privacy standards such as SOC2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001 including yearly audits and attestations.
4.0 Who has access to my policy information (PII)?
→ All sensitive data, including consumer PII is strictly limited to those with a need-to-know basis in adherence with the data security principles of “least privilege.” Access is reviewed and audited frequently to ensure compliance with this standard.
5.0 Is the user registration and login really secure with a simple email link?

The Policy Ledger utilizes Magic Link authentication for passwordless login.  Magic Link provides the following security features and user benefits:

  • User-Friendly: Simplifies the login process for users. Instead of remembering and entering a traditional username and password users only need to click on a unique link sent to their email to verify their identity.

  • Enhanced Security: Adds an extra layer of security by utilizing the user's unique device as a verification factor. This makes it more difficult for unauthorized users to gain access to an account.

  • Mitigation of Phishing: Mitigate phishing attacks since the unique login link is sent directly to the user's registered email address, and bound to the requesting device.  This reduces the likelihood of users falling victim to fraudulent login pages.

  • No Dependency on Traditional Passwords: Eliminates the need for traditional passwords, it reduces the risk associated with password-based vulnerabilities such as password leaks, brute force attacks, or password guessing.

6.0 How are Policy Ledger sessions secured?
→ End-to-End encryption (HTTPS) is enforced on all client platforms.
7.0 How is Policy Ledger customer policy information (PII) data stored?
Policy information is stored in a secured database and encrypted with AES256 bit encryption.
8.0 What are the relevant regulations in place for these operations? Is infineo compliant?

→ infineo complies with all applicable regulations in the finance industry.  Additionally, infineo has adopted higher security measures where feasible to ensure the security of our users' sensitive information.

9.0 Can a hacker alter information in my insurance policy?

No, all insurance information provided to infineo is immutable when minted on the blockchain.  Only Policy Ledger extended features can be modified, such as adding additional members via Community tools.  Your carrier remains the authoritative source for all policy information.

10.0 Can I make changes to my insurance policy by using the infineo Policy Ledger?

→ At this time, the infineo Policy Ledger does not interface with your life insurance carrier. Any changes you make to the attributes of your policy through the infineo Ledger will only be reflected in the internal Policy Ledger ecosystem. For example, if you wanted to change your premium payment schedule (from monthly to annual, say) you would need to make that change directly with the carrier.

11.0 What happens to my blockchain wallet if infineo ceases to exist?

→  Magic Link is the custodian of the wallet for you, but you are the owner of it. In the event infineo ceases to exist, you would get custody of the wallet from Magic Link. They track everything and hold the private keys for you, ensuring you won't lose access to your wallet.

12.0 Can I upload both policy documents and illustrations to the Policy Ledger?

Yes, you can upload policy illustrations and other policy documents to the Policy Ledger. The system currently works best with illustrations, but it is designed to handle various types of policy documents.

13.0 Can I add beneficiaries and other interested parties through the Policy Ledger?

Yes, you can add contingent beneficiaries, different owners of the policy, different trustees, or other interested parties through the Policy Ledger. You can also set an annual notification date to remind them about the policy.

14.0 What if the policy information extracted from the document is incorrect?

If the extracted information is incorrect, you can manually edit it in the system. The Policy Ledger allows you to verify and correct any information that may not have been captured accurately during the upload process.

15.0 How does infineo ensure that my data is secure and not shared with third parties?

infineo is building a siloed infrastructure for AI and other systems to ensure that personal information is not shared with third-party systems. The data is stored securely in a database protected by standard Google Cloud protections, and access is strictly controlled.

16.0 Can the Policy Ledger help with international beneficiaries?

Yes, the Policy Ledger can assist international beneficiaries by providing access to the necessary policy information online, eliminating the need for physical documents and simplifying the claims process across borders.

17.0 Can I request policy loans through the Policy Ledger?

Currently, you cannot request policy loans through the Policy Ledger. However, infineo plans to build a lending solution that will allow for instantaneous policy loans through third-party providers in the future.

18.0 Is there any cost associated with using the Policy Ledger?

The Policy Ledger is a completely free service provided by infineo. There may be fees associated with additional services, such as lending solutions, in the future, but there is no obligation to use those services.
